Sunrise, Sunset

Dark shadows pull at the light,
Light layered over deepest night,
Night that shall forever fight,
Fight all that is true and right.

Faint dots blaze in a dark sky,
Sky that watches sunshine die,
Die to be born, dawn draws nigh,
Nigh to those who want to fly.

Dark gives birth to new day,
Day will chase the dark away,
Away to return, edged with gray,
Gray the borders, here to stay.

Sunrise to sunset, ever on,
On to be conquered by the dawn,
Dawn to die by darkest spawn,
Spawn to lose but never gone.
