Shards Of Yesterday

It was all just a dream -
A mad, longing scream
Of a dying thing.
Caught on a string
Of hopes and lies.
The blood-red skies
Pour down their pain
In tears called rain,
While my Liberty Bell
Lies cracked; no knell
Of freedom will sound.
Found dead on the ground,
Shards of yesterday
Fade into the clay
That is the earth.
No second birth
Is given to me.
Blood-red skies; sea
Reflecting above -
Tears from a broken love.
The death of a heart -
When two lovers part
For all eternity -
Leaves no clarity
Upon my skin.
Losers never win.
Pain may fade out,
Leaving only doubt;
Was love ever there?
Moon shining fair
Fades in the sun -
What have you done?
