She screams into the harsh silence,
But only her echoes come ringing back
In a mockery of her aching lonliness
As she wanders down the broken track.

She walks around that final bend
And finds at last the field of dreams,
But the silence presses in her mind,
And again the air is full of screams.

This time an answer flies to her
Like a bird upon the soft breeze.
It too holds a sad and lonely note
That echos out across the seas.

It stretches on and never ends
And stirs again her broken heart.
Its song touches her dying dreams
And breathes into it a new start.

Her once-dead soul is again awake.
Her song is now happy and free.
She sings again the song she sang
When she was still in love with me.
