Phoenix

Thunder brash and lightning bright,
Another dark and stormy night.
A single tear I shed tonight,
Lit by the storm's broken light.

I sit in silence and watch the rain,
Consider my choices and the pain.
But sorrow and grief still remain
As the silver teardrops fall again.

The storm moves on but still I cry,
The thunder my fading lullaby.
Colors fade for dark is nigh
As the burning sun sinks in the sky.

Then in fiery glory I take wing,
This time a joyful song to sing.
A Phoenix true, the Flaming King,
My silver tears a healing spring.

My glowing plumes and flaming tail
Leave smoke behind - a hazy trail.
The air lights up and embers pale
As through the darkened skies I sail.
