Faded Rose

I am turned into a faded rose;
The pain within my center grows.
Petals once vibrant now fall pale,
Leaves once green now turn stale.
Long have grown my thorns of late,
Sharper now is their present state.
Red color has now blurred to blue -
A mood reflected in triste hue.
If ever black should petals turn,
Should ever flames around me burn,
Then know that the darkness dire
Has consumed me in an evil fire.
If ever petals should blossom white,
Should ever I be bathed in light,
Then know I tried my best to be
A rose of higher quality.
