Crimson Dawn

My lonely heart breaks over and over again.
Each crimson tear that falls leaves another stain
Upon my hurting soul, each drop so full of pain
And loss - red drops once flowing through my vein.

Every drop a blow to a heart already battered,
Every stain a hit to a hope already shattered.
I pick up the shards, wrap them in my spirit tattered -
Search for the keys to it all, though they are scattered.

I wonder how I got this far, and my soul cries
For help amongst the frozen stars locked within the skies.
Trying to find the truth hidden amid a thousand lies,
Watching more droplets fall as my heart slowly dies.

Always wondering why - how this could ever be
As each blow strikes a heart that once beat for thee
But now is broken and bound, I am no longer me,
Yet dawn is coming soon, and soon I shall be free.
