Bloody Temptation

Whispers echoing of an old desire
Tempt me again to play with fire.
Blade glints red, fresh in my mind,
Seeking to coat my skin in kind.
Darkness crowding inner light,
Rallying together for the fight.
Black flames licking at my soul
Burst afresh from glowing coal.
Night's cloak brings daggers new,
Trying to redden a day turned blue.
Black ashes of a promised pain
Never stop me from doing it again.
Whispers echoing, hunting, haunting;
Shadows of a blackness - evil, taunting.
Seductive promises of release sought
Urge me to do what I always fought.
The razors searching, hit the floor;
Can't hide from them, they just bring more.
Half begging, pleading, "Leave me be!"
Half hurt, screaming, "Try and stop me!"
Down to the wire, choice to be made;
Now or later, the price will be paid.
Now is immediate, now is for real,
But later brings what only soul can feel.
Whispers echoing of an old desire
Tempt me again to play with fire...
